BULAWAYO – Corporate social responsibility took centre stage in Bulawayo as NetOne and KIDZCAN successfully staged their inaugural charity golf tournament, reinforcing the private sector’s role in supporting Zimbabwe’s healthcare sector.
The event attracted golfers, business leaders and development partners united by one objective—to raise awareness and resources for children living with cancer.
Addressing guests, NetOne Group Chief Executive Officer Engineer Raphael Mushanawani said the tournament represented a commitment to improving lives rather than simply competing on the golf course.
According to Mushanawani, every participant became part of a broader mission to strengthen hope for children receiving treatment through KIDZCAN’s programmes.
He applauded the organisation’s work in supporting families affected by childhood cancer through treatment assistance, advocacy and public awareness campaigns.
Mushanawani said NetOne believes connectivity should extend beyond telecommunications by building stronger communities and supporting initiatives that create lasting social value.
He noted that the partnership also complements Zimbabwe’s national development priorities, particularly efforts to improve healthcare delivery and social welfare under Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2.
“The greatest achievement from today’s tournament will not be measured by trophies or scorecards, but by the lives that benefit from the support generated through this initiative,” he said.
The NetOne CEO expressed appreciation to sponsors, corporate partners and participants for embracing the cause, saying their collective effort had demonstrated the power of collaboration in addressing pressing social challenges.
He concluded by encouraging continued partnerships between the corporate sector, civil society and the public in expanding support for vulnerable communities across Zimbabwe.
