A tractor was found by members of the police sub-aqua unit two days before the man’s body was discovered in Nyangani Dam. Allied Timbers had to hire a crane to retrieve the tractor from the dam.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the gory murder to Manica Post and said investigations were in progress.

According to the police report, Chirimo knocked off duty at an Allied Timbers Estate in Mutasa on April 14 and went to the workshop to park the tractor.

The following day, Chirimo’s co-worker, Justin William Matanga saw a trailer that was stuck on a tree. He also noticed that there were tractor tyre marks leading to Nyangani Dam.

A spirited search by the sub-aqua unit failed to recover Chirimo’s body. It was later found floating in Nyangani Dam on April 21.

During preliminary investigations, the police discovered that the now deceased had a deep cut on his head and both his eyes were missing.

The police have since opened up investigations as they are trying to establish what happened on the fateful day and why the unknown assailants murdered him.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is also appealing to anyone who has information on the grisly murder to contact the police or to report to the nearest police station.
