Civil Servants are set to receive close to $5 000 RTGS as government and Apex negotiations continue.
A source that refused to be named highlighted that government was willing to offer its workers $5 000 RTGs to the lowest paid.
The rumors come after there has been a deadlock between the Apex board and the government.
The government employees have been earning less than 40 US dollars which had left many incapacitated because of the prevailing economic situation.
Teachers earlier on during the week threatened to down tools as the schools open on the 14th of January.
Members of the Amalgamated Rural Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) say they have informed the government about their intentions to stay home when schools open.
ARTUZ president, Obert Masaraure, says the government has not yet responded to their grievances that include a cost of living adjustment pegged on the current interbank market rates.
“Our salaries are too low for our members to return to work. We won’t be able to go to work due to incapacitation. Teachers are no longer able to go to work,” he said.
